The DJI Goggles can be used in conjunction with your controller to fly your DJI drone via a First Person View (FPV).
This means that you can see what the drone is seeing via the camera on the front.
This allows you to feel completely immersed in your drone, and fly it as though you are.
Imagine flying like a bird. This is what you can achieve with this program!
Another way is to describe it as a virtual reality created by a drone.

You can remove the cover and open the top of the insert box to expose the display unit.
You will find the charger, headband, manuals, and accessories by lifting the section out of the box.
As you can see, the full contents include the Goggle, Headband, and Micro USB cable, HDMI Cable, Wire Clip, Cleaning Cloth, and Mains to USB Charger.
Design and Hardware
It is made of plastic. The tensioner is controlled by metal strapping at the headband. The forehead tab is covered by foam. The goggles are strong and comfortable. The inner face plate is covered by a thin rubber lining. This lining completely covers your eyes, leaving no room for light.
They come in one size but can easily fit all, in some cases there can be a little light bleed but it does not affect the experience, you can slightly feel this light disturbance if it’s extra bright outside.
The DJI has five small holes on its side. These are the speakers that provide a great audio experience and give you an authentic time experience.
Two buttons are located on the bottom of the device: the function button and the back button. The power button can be found on the side of your unit. A touch trackpad is right above the power button. You can access the common menu using different swipe functions, or you can use the bottom buttons to manage settings.

- Your drone’s speed, distance, and height

Other Features and Specs
There are some additional details for those who are interested in the Goggles. Here are some of the more intriguing specs:
- Video Resolution –1080p @ 30fps or 720p @ 60fps (giving you a true “2K” view).
- Signal Latency-highly responsive @ 110ms (Mavic720p) for other drones and resolutions
- Headset Antenna provides 360-degree coverage (important as you control a part of the drone’s functions).
DJI Glasses Dual Screen and View
The FPV goggles with dual-screen were made by DJI. They have a stunning display of 3840 x1080 resolution and can be adjusted to fit your head and eye gap.
Each screen has a resolution of 1920×1080, so each eye can enjoy a full HD view with an 85-degree field. The screen appears large because you can see the data directly through the drone camera from 8 feet away. This is a fantastic gadget!
The drone’s distance greatly affects the resolution. If the quadcopter is at a distance from us, and the signals it receives, the glasses will adjust the resolution to reduce the resolution to 1080p to about 720p.

Even If you wear glasses you don’t have to worry about fitting of the DJI goggles, as you can see in the above image there is a space made for glass wearers, this device can actually fit up to large size glasses without any problems, there can be a little leak of light but It doesn’t create a big issue once the goggles screen is turned on
The Goggles Headband
It is comfortable to wear and fits comfortably on the head. Its design is so unique that although it is quite heavy, the battery placed on the backside balances the headband.
You can tilt the goggles as high as 90 degrees. If you need to stop or check your drone’s position, you can just move the goggles upwards and return to the real world.
Connectivity to Other Video Sources
It is very simple to connect the DJI goggles to your drone. Simply connect the FPV goggles to the controller and turn on DJI GO. If you wish to make your drone fly, then the HDMI port can be used to connect your DJI goggles to an external video device. Your computer will also act as a monitor if your DJI goggles are connected to it.
You can reduce the image size to your liking and enjoy movies with your FPV glasses. Imagine watching Jurassic park from it, and then having the chance to see a dinosaur just three meters away.
Charging Time and Battery
The glasses can last up to five hours. This is much longer than a drone’s battery life. Depending on the state of the battery, charging can take as long as 4 hours. The goggles are charged via micro USB like the controller. This means that DJI goggles don’t need to be charged every day. However, 5 hours of runtime is much more convenient. It all depends on what you need.

These were designed by DJI to be compatible with the Mavic Pro.
They communicate using DJI’s proprietary system, OcuSync. This new technology provides a stronger wireless video signal (1080p) with a greater range (4.3 miles), and lower interference.
A lot of DJI drones from the past do not have this system, so they need to be hardwired in order to connect to the headset.
To help with this problem, the DJI Goggles include a microSD port and a small HDMI Type C port.
The DJI Goggles can be used with the Phantom 4 or Inspire series (via these cables), but the functionality of the goggles is very different (the Mavic Pro wirelessly offers the greatest).
Features of the DJI FPV Systems
The high-definition DJI FPV Goggles and the digital FPV transmission network with low latency can be used on DIY drones as well as racing drones and robotics. The DJI FPV System was launched in July 2019 and includes the following DJI devices.

Mounted on the drone is the DJI Air unit and camera. These units can deliver continuous video even when objects are cut. This 8-channel remote controller is ideal for drone racing. It allows you to control 8 drones simultaneously.
DJI-FPV Air Unit
The DJI FPV Air unit provides a high-definition digital video transmission system and long-range remote control link. It’s easy to set up and includes an internal recorder.

The Head Tracking Feature
This feature allows you to control the direction and camera of your quadcopter by simply moving your head.
Two options exist for this:
- Head Tracking Flight Mode – allows you to control your drone from above
- Head Tracking Gimbal Mode allows you to control your camera
You will need to practice the head tracking flight mode first. It is difficult to fly your drone with head movement the first time. The head tracking gimbal mode, however, is much easier because you only control the camera with your head and not the drone.
Don’t put anyone in danger by using head tracking flight mode. Get your hands on the drone first, then mount it as high as possible.
In this mode, you can move your head in a direction, tap the touchscreen to confirm the target before tapping again to start the drone flying towards that poi. The Goggles can be used in many of the same flight modes as DJI products, but they are very similar to the ones you use with your smartphone or app.
DJI Fixed Wing Mode
You can fly with the DJI Goggles in Fixed Wing intelligent flight mode if you own an older Mavic Pro. DJI Mavic users have expressed disappointment that Fixed-Wing mode doesn’t work on the Mavic Air, Mini, or Mavic 2 drones.
This mode allows the drone to fly forward without turning left or right. For a fully realized flight experience, combine Head Tracking Mode with the Mavic Pro.
Fixed-Wing Mode has An AR trajectory prediction feature that makes it safer to use this mode in difficult environments. Other Intelligent Flight Modes are Terrain Follow and ActiveTrack. TapFly, Cinematic Mode, Tripod Mode.
The DJI Goggles Headband Fits
The headband is very well padded and fits comfortably on any head. It can be adjusted via a rear dial (like a bike helmet – if one is available).
The battery is located on the back and is very heavy. There is a reason for that. You need something to balance the headset’s goggle portion. The battery does an excellent job and balances the entire thing.
Although it is difficult to see, the headband can be removed from the viewer’s view so that you can unclip/clip it. This makes it much easier to store. You can also get the most out of the viewer if you expand the headband.
Last but not least, goggles can be tilted up to 90° and remain there. You can remove the goggles at any time and return to the “real” world without having them removed. It’s handy if you need to check the location of your drone or something else around you.
Introduction to DJI Goggles Racing Edition
The DJI goggle Re is an upgraded model that features thick red leather cushioning and an upgraded facial pad. The upgraded latency will make a big difference on the racing track, as it has a better video transmission latency.
Dual screens with a resolution 1080 will provide an incredible experience when racing or passing through obstacles. It can transmit digital video on both 2.4 and 5.8GHz frequencies and has the ability to choose the channel with the lowest interference.
The touchpad, on/off button and the battery indicator is located on the right side of the RE Goggle. The touchpad can be used to access the menu and flight modes, and you can also control the camera and drone with your head movements. It can display battery levels, signals, and other relevant information. This screen is also available for drones that are not manufactured by DJI.
RE Features Overview
The DJI Goggles RE is designed for racing drones that require low latency and stability, as well as clarity in the live video feed. The DJI Goggle Racing Edition can be used with OcuSync video transmission and high-performance camera modules. They can transmit digital video signals up to 7km away, with latency as low at 50 ms and analog signal as low as 50ms.
OcuSync Video Transmission Module provides 2.4 and 5.8GHz dual-band digital video transmission at a latency of just 50 ms. It also has a maximum control range up to 7 kilometers. Transmission resolution can be set to 480p at 2.4 GHz for low latency.
DJI OcuSync Camera & OcuSync Air Unit
The OcuSync Air Unit or OcuSync Camera are required to share the DJI Re Goggle with other quadcopters, ground robots, etc.
Compatible with DJI Goggles Re, the DJI OcuSync camera uses a 1/3 inch image sensor. This provides a higher quality video transmission than many analog FPV goggles.
OcuSync cameras also use a global shutter to reduce the rolling shutter bar effect caused by high-frequency vibration. It also features a low distortion lens with a FOV of 148 degrees, which gives it a natural-looking camera view.

DJI Goggle versus DJI Goggle RE
The DJI Goggle RE includes all the same features as the DJI Goggle, plus the following extra features:
- The DJI Goggles Renew also supports the 5.8GHz band. This can prevent interference with the less crowded 2.4GHz.
- The DJI Racing Edition goggle features a new design for the internal linear-polarized omnidirectional antennas. DJI has also introduced a new external Pagoda antenna at 5.8 GHz, an omnidirectional left-hand circularly polarized (LHCP), antenna.
- Racing Edition Goggles has restructured radio communication strategy as well as video decoding algorithm. This reduces transmission latency from 50 ms to a wireless transmission latency of less than 10 ms, ensuring smooth and reliable video transmission. This prevents disconnection and video lag from the digital video transmission network when it is operating in a normal environment.
- The Racing Edition DJI Goggle supports analog transmission at any integer frequency from 5.650 – 5.925GHz and analog video storage on Micro SD cards.
- Supports Local video playback is supported and Sphere Pano viewing can be accessed. Users can turn their heads to see the Sphere pano from 360 degrees.
- To make the headband more comfortable, we have redesigned the facial pad and used new replacement leather materials.
DJI Goggle RE Latency
The latency of the Racing Edition goggles for various DJI quadcopters is the same as those in the chart.
The DJI Goggles is a remarkable piece of tech.
This is the perfect companion if you are looking to fully immerse yourself into the Mavic Pro’s flying experience. It was designed for the Mavic Pro and can be used to control your Mavic’s camera, gimbal or flight controls using head movements. It is similar to a camera extension for the DJI drones. However, it is not immersive.
It is impressive to see the quality of the build and fine-tuning that can be done, especially considering all the technology involved. It can be worn with glasses, comfortably on the head, and lasts for hours.
