Their most recent drone is the Potensic. It features a folding design, which is my preferred form of a drone. You want a drone with a premium style and feel. Then check out the Potensic D88 drone review.

The Potensic D88 foldable drone is decent and features a 2MP CMOS camera. It is also stabilized by a 1 Axis gimbal. The drone features a 2MP CMOS sensor that allows you to capture amazing aerial photos. It also has dual GPS modules and intelligent flight mode options that will make it easier for you to fly it. This drone is very attractive and can fly for around 15-20 minutes. It is also suitable for everyone.
User-friendly features: Foldable fuselage. Easy to transport and store. GPS intelligent return. One key return. Follow me mode. Interest point surrounds. Altitude hold. Ultrasonic altitude setting, optical flow positioning, orbit flight, remote control with LED screen.
What’s In The Box?
Although the drone comes with a cool metal case, I feel it is a little too expensive. So, I recommend that you buy it without the case. A backpack can be used to transport the drone if you are careful.
- Potensic D88 GPS Camera Drone
- Remote Controller
- Battery Charging Hub (Supports two batteries)
- Travel Case
- Manual for the User
A foldable drone is a great option for travel or when you need to stuff your bag with things and then slip the drone in. The arms also feature LEDs that look great.
The drone comes with brushless motors. It has 1350KV motors. Brushless motors are a great option for anyone who has been in the drone market. They don’t heat up as fast. They are less expensive and require little maintenance.
When talking about drones, the transmitter is an important part. It must look great, be comfortable, and have a long-range. This transmitter is a masterpiece by Potensic. The transmitter is small enough to fit in a backpack or drone case. It’s still very ergonomic and feels great.
It contains all the essential parts it needs, including two throttles and a small screen at the center. There are also buttons for different operations. It also has a foldable phone holder. You basically have everything you need.
Potensic D88 Camera
The Potensic D88 HD camera drone has a 2K camera, which can be considered a little better than average. It features a 110deg wide-angle lens, which will let you capture more detail in one shot.
The gimbal supports a 1-axis gimbal, which helps eliminate distortions and jello effects from images and videos. The remote control dial can be used to adjust the tilt of the gimbal up or down by 90 degrees. This will give you a better view of your video footage and pictures.
Although it’s a 2K camera drone, you can live stream video to your smartphone in 720p/20fps. This is still pretty decent, but not as good as the DJI spark or the Autel Evo.
It’s a great camera that can capture some amazing aerial photos and video footage. Live streaming is possible, but there may be lag issues if the live stream is extended. So it is best to keep within the FPV range.
The intelligent battery is high in capacity and 3400mAh, with a working time of 32-40 minutes (2 batteries); it comes with two batteries to extent your exciting moment so you can enjoy the wonderful flight experience.
Note: If you plan to fly your drone for more than 20 minutes and want to wait for the battery to recharge before flying again, buying an extra battery is your only option.
The Potensic D88 controller looks very similar to the JJRCX11 controller. It’s a small controller with a minimalistic design. The 2AA batteries are not included.
The holder has two faux antennas, which are only there for aesthetic purposes. It also features a pull-out smartphone holder. It is big enough to hold large smartphones, but not for tablets.
Cool LCD displays in the middle of the controller display telemetry data. With a quick glance, you can see how many satellites that drone has locked onto, battery level, drone height, and distance.
It feels good in your hands, and the controls are easy for you to find. However, I do not like the two grippers at the bottom. They don’t make it easier to hold and can actually hinder your ability to control it properly.
The drone has a range of approximately 1500m, but it can be controlled in very good conditions. I would recommend keeping the drone within this range.
Nowadays, every drone comes with several intelligent flight modes. These modes don’t require any input from the pilot. The drone will fly automatically when the intelligent mode is activated. These intelligent flight modes make aerial photography easier and more enjoyable.
Three intelligent flight modes are available on the Potensic D88.
GPS + GLONASS
A drone selling for just $300 would be a shame without GPS features.
The Potensic D88 is equipped with dual GPS and GLONASS integrations. This allows for precise and accurate positioning and location. Most drones are cheaper and will not have GPS or both.
The dual system helps the craft’s assistive flight features to be properly executed. It also gives it more stability when the aircraft is set to hover or to fly with an automatic flight preset that could otherwise increase drifting risk.
This dual system increases safety and redundancy, which in turn makes the craft safer. The other system will take over if one fails mid-flight. This prevents untimely crashes and collisions that could cause damage to your investment.
One Key Takeoff/Landing
The D88 features a standard feature on all beginner-friendly drones. It includes one key takeoff/landing. The drone hovers automatically in the air and sets itself onto your chosen landing surface with a simple push of a button. This can be helpful if you are lending the drone to someone less experienced or if you’re just starting out with the drone. You can also use the easy landing option if the drone is too heavy to handle manually.
Return To Home
It has been so useful for drones that nearly all mid-range drones come with Return to Home, even the Potensic D88. It automatically triggers when the D88’s power is low, the signal transmission is cut off or when unavoidable errors are encountered. When Return to Home is activated, the drone will fly back to its original takeoff point.
If you are lazy, this can be manually activated.
Point of Interest
Point of Interest works in the same way as Orbit mode on drones. You can select a subject you want to capture footage of, and the PotensicD88 will circle it and fly clockwise around this subject while recording video. Presenting a comprehensive image at 360deg shot without having to pilot or compose a shot manually.
Pre-programming the smartphone app with Waypoint functionality to allow you to command the PotensicD88 to fly to the path that you desire allows for the PotensicD88 to take off.
Waypoint Flight: Plan your flying route by drawing the dots on the built-in map on the App, recording beautiful scenery along the route. The GPS mode will give you the exact positioning details of the drone.
This is a great tool for amateur filmmaking or for recording videos for social media.
Follow Me, as the name implies, allows the PotensicD88 to follow your movements and keep you in the frame for the shot. It also gives you a great background capture. This allows you to have a third-person view on solo trips. You don’t need to pilot or film yourself at the same time, so you can use your hands to do other things.
Mode of Headless
The Potensic D88’s headless mode is another feature that is easy to use for beginners. It tells the drone not to pay attention to its front-end orientation and to instead respond to your inputs in a simple manner. The drone will turn left if you push the directional lever right. You won’t need to worry about the craft’s position on the 3D plane. The drone will fly exactly as you imagined.
Dual GPS -The drone can be locked onto both GPS satellites and GLONASS satellites. This results in better coverage, more hovering, positioning and makes it easier to fly.
Ultrasonic altitude hold and optical flow positioning – These sensors are located under the drone’s belly near the rear end. These sensors allow you to fly your drone indoors or in case you can’t lock onto other drones.
The Potensic D88 is an excellent aircraft. It hovers perfectly and flies well. However, slight wind can cause it to move around. I don’t recommend anyone starting to fly in windy conditions. Although the intelligent flight modes work well, there have been some reports that the follow-me mode doesn’t always work correctly.
You will need to calibrate your drone before you can fly it. The instruction manual will provide all details. You can then fly the drone by simply doing basic movements. You can then connect to your smartphone, which will allow you to transmit FPV and take blind photos. You will also see useful information such as distance, battery level, and satellites.
There are some issues that the drone might encounter. For example, if it loses its signal, the aircraft will not be connected to your App even though you are within range. If that happens, you will not be able to stop the recording if it has been started on your phone. You will need to unplug the wireless connection between your phone and the other device, then reconnect.
You also have intelligent flight modes such as a waypoint or return home, orbit mode, follow me mode, and a return home mode. These flight modes are very reliable, and even if your App does not work, you will still have footage on your SD card. The GPS will ensure that the drone completes its course regardless of the Wi-Fi connection. Because the drone’s movement is not fluid, the follow-me mode can be very uncertain. The drone follows you very well, but the footage will not be usable.
Time And Range Of Flight
The package includes two batteries for the PotensicD88 drone. Each battery can provide up to 20 minutes of flight time. This brings the total flight time to an impressive 40 minutes.
Strong Power System: Four durable 1350KV brushless motors enable the D88 to fly stably at high speed, maximum up to 50km/h;
A battery takes around 2 to 3 hours to fully charge. This is a good price for a drone camera with an excellent flight time.
The Potensic D88 has significant advantages over its rivals, such as Snaptain SP510 or Holy Stone HS700D. The Potensic D88 can be controlled remotely from a distance of 1,500 meters. This makes it the most expensive drone and offers a long flight time.
It gives you freedom and control to fly around exploring new areas. It also increases the signal strength between the drone and the remote controller, which keeps the connection stable.
