Akaso is a leader in the market of economic action cameras. The AKASO Brave 4K action camera is suitable for outdoor adventures. This camera is a great alternative to brands that have failed you in the past. It has interpolated 4k quality. It has a high-quality definition, focus, detail, and clarity. You can use it wherever you like with the many accessories included.
AKASO Brave, another GoPro option from AKASO, is affordable and offers decent video quality. You can take 20MP photos with 4K recording on the AKASO Brave4, even though I prefer 16Mp as they are sharper. The remote control can be worn on the wrist and allows you to take and record photos from a distance of up to 10 meters.
Before we get into the features of the Brave 4 4K, let’s first look at what it comes in. It is packaged in a classic white cardboard box, with photos of the camera on one side and the main settings and features on the other.
The box contains accessories, two batteries, and a USB microphone. There is also a USB cable for data transfer and charging.
We are proud to present the AKASO Brave4 4K, one of our most popular cameras.
Design & Build Quality
The design of the Akaso Brave4 is not revolutionary at first glance. The Akaso Brave4 is a rectangular black plastic shape with ribbed sides texture, which we all love about our action cameras. The Brave 4 is light at 0.35 lbs (160g), just like other action cameras.
The Akaso Brave4’s action camera looks very similar to GoPro cameras.
The Brave 4 is quite durable. It can withstand many bumps. To increase durability, you can add a waterproof case. This waterproof case provides water protection for up to 30 meters (100 feet) in depth.
The 2-inch IPS main display is located on the back. Unfortunately, it does not have touchscreen capabilities. On the front, there is a small LCD screen in the upper left corner that displays battery life and recording information. This screen can be very useful, especially if you don’t know whether you are actually recording your ride.
This action camera is button-based, so you will find a few more buttons here than with touchscreen-based action cameras. These are all buttons that you will find on the Akaso Brave4 Action Camera:
- Under the LCD screen, there is a Power/Mode button
- The top has a shutter button
- There are two navigation buttons at the sides
- The Micro USB, Micro HDMI, and Micro SD ports can be found on the right-hand side of the action cam.
AKASO Brave4 4K has video stabilization (EIS), which is what most sports cameras have. This model also features a gyroscope that can capture camera movements better and make your video smoother.
Stabilization works well. In some cases, it can seem too fast for certain images, but it never distorts them.
A gimbal is a great choice if you want to record smooth and steady footage. Gimbals are the best stabilizers for cameras. The gimbal will make it easy to record a video. It is possible to move around and record your footage without worrying about whether the footage will be stable.
Two rechargeable 1050mAh batteries are included with the AKASO Brave4 4K. They can record for approximately 90 minutes at 1080 Full HD or 60 minutes at 4K/2K.
The battery is located at the bottom. There is a cover that allows you to access the battery. It is possible to buy additional batteries and replace the battery when it runs out.
The AKASO’s photography is quite good. It can capture up to 20MP images with its Sony CMOS sensor in a 16-9 format without reaching 4 to 3, but can only capture 8MP.
Bright sunlight makes the colors more vivid, and the entire picture shows more contrast than the GoPro.
The AKASO Brave4 4K can also shoot underwater, making it a great low-budget option to take simple photos when you go diving or snorkeling.
- Proportion Image: To choose between 4:3 or 16:9
- Loop recording: Off / 3 minutes / 5 minutes / 10 mins

AKASO Brave4 4K/24fps or 2K/30fps with 1080P/60FPS video resolution. Although it doesn’t have 4K, the interpolated 4K is used. The camera has good image quality considering it is a low-budget action cam. It uses a 170deg super-wide-angle and can adjust the angle.
We cannot change the settings for sharpness or contrast, however. The default configuration is balanced and sharp. There’s no tendency to go too blue. Overall, it has nice colors. You shouldn’t expect to see amazing results with a low-budget camera like the GoPro Hero 8
These are the video resolutions for the AKASO Brav4 4K
- 4K (3840×2160) / 24fps Interpolated
- 2.7K (2688×1520) / 30fps
- 1080P Full HD (1920×1080) / 60fps/30fps
- 720P (1280×720) / 120fps/60fps/30fps
You can choose from many options and video settings when using the AKASO Brave4 4K:
- Video quality
- Lens distortion
- Stabilizer or video stabilization (ON / OFF)
- Balance between Targets
You can also take photos with the Brave 4, just like with other action cameras. You can use the 20MP sensor camera with an adjustable lens to create high-quality images that are best suited for social media.
You can also zoom in on your desired subject and capture it in great detail with the 5x digital zoom.
There are also two modes: the burst mode and timelapse. This feature is not recommended for moto vlogging. You will only use it to take photos for your social media accounts. It’s still a useful feature to have.
The Brave 4 action cam is susceptible to wind noise if it’s not protected.
This action camera has the worst audio quality. We see that Akaso has spent the most money to fix this issue. It is still worth the price of less than $100.
The use of a waterproof case can cause the sound to become muted and make it more susceptible to wind noise. If you want to have great sound quality in your moto vlog, this could be a problem.
Control & User Interface
This is an older camera that uses a button-based interface with a 2-inch IPS screen. The interface is easy to use and will not take you long to master. The screen is also remarkably clear and will display the information even in low-light conditions.
The included wrist strap accessory wireless remote control allows you to control the Brave 4 action cam. It allows you to quickly start and stop recording once the camera has been mounted. This is especially useful when you’re riding a motorcycle and have no time to stop. It is a useful accessory with a 10-meter range.
The smartphone app on Android and iOS is another control method. It allows you to view past recordings and change settings. It is not the best method to control Akaso Brave 4’s action camera.
The Akaso Brave4 comes equipped with many accessories. It comes with 19 accessories, including mounts and handlebar stands. It can be mounted on your motorcycle helmet as well!
Akaso Brave Underwater Performance
Next, in our Akaso Brave 4 Review, we’ll be looking at the Akaso Brave 4’s underwater photography capabilities and video recording capabilities. The camera works just as well underwater as it does on land-based activities, which is something we are very happy with. The camera can capture sound underwater and produces great pictures in all light conditions.
The underwater cameras have been a huge hit with water-based athletes. Many of them have left independent reviews of the camera and their experiences using it in water.
The standard Akaso Brave4 waterproof bag can be used to transport the camera up to one hundred feet (or thirty meters) below the water surface. The camera’s audio, video, and photographic capabilities are not affected by the case. There are many waterproof cases that you can buy from third parties, but we don’t see any reason to spend more money on the one that is standard.
You may choose to purchase a floating handle compatible with the Akaso Brave4, depending on your chosen water-based sport. This will make your action camera float on the water surface and will be easy to find in case it is dropped.
Although Akaso’s smartphone app has experienced some issues in the past, we are happy to report that both iOS and Android versions of the update have fixed these problems. The app is now much simpler to use, with no syncing problems or random disconnects. The app allows you to sync your Akaso brave 4 with it in seconds. You also have easy access to your camera settings so that you can make any adjustments as quickly as possible.
You can make these adjustments manually using the control interface on your actual camera. However, the navigation menu on your smartphone app makes it much simpler to use and allows you to adjust the performance of the camera much faster. This can save you time when you’re out and about, whether you’re vlogging in a new place or participating in an action sport.
The Akaso smartphone application is free and easy to use. We recommend it if you plan to tweak the settings on your Brave 4 regularly. The action camera can be used without the app. If you intend to use it for vlogging, you will not have any problems.
GoPro vs Akaso Brave 4.
Next, we will compare the Akaso Brave4 vs. GoPro Hero 6 Black. The table below shows the similarities between both action cameras. However, while they look similar on paper, in reality, the GoPro is more powerful if you can afford it.
Although the GoPro is a superior product in terms of build quality and functionality, it comes with a steep price. The Akaso Brave 4 costs around a third as much but offers decent build quality and functionality.
You have to decide if the GoPro is worth it for you and your situation. Only you can answer this question. The Akaso Brave 4 action camera is an excellent budget-friendly option that many people love and use.
The Akaso Brave 4 is a great camera for those looking for an affordable alternative to more expensive models. Its features include a 4K video recording, a 12-megapixel sensor, and a built-in WiFi connection. While it may not be as advanced as some of the more expensive models on the market, it is still a great option for those looking for an affordable camera that delivers good quality video.
